It is intentionally larger than a standard front-pocket patch, while not being a full-size backpatch. That intermediate oversized format is deliberate and works well for larger jacket placements, bags, backpacks, and similar applications. Trimming the patch will, of course, also alter the proportions and intended appearance. So while we completely understand that the size did not suit the particular placement you had in mind, the patch is the size and format it was designed and advertised to be.
